A really foolproof way to hide stuff.

There is no reason to let an attack plunder your city if you are on line. Just remember that all an attack does, no matter how large, is take out your fixed defenses, and take any resources that you leave lying around. The fixed defenses is a nuisance, but there is no reason to give them resources.

As I have explained before you should ship as much stuff as you have transports and troops out of your city with a camp time that puts it past the attack. Just ship to a close valley, the camp keeps it from being exposed. Then bring it back when it reappears in your close valley.

If there is more than you can ship, then sell all of it in the market. This will immediately give you gold. Turn right around and buy something like lumber with all your gold. Jut make sure the transaction goes through. It takes 30 minutes to be delivered. During that time it is completely safe. Just do this before the attack, and all your stuff will show up after the attack. You can then sell the lumber and buy whatever you need.

If you are going off line, then ship your resources to a nearby friend, or sell for gold and do the same thing.

Protecting Resources Deuce

The market trick doesn't work any more because if you are attacked the items you have posted but not sold will be pillaged. The trick I wrote about before isn't so good because the recall time is based on how long they have been out, not how far away the valley you send them to is.

So if you are immediately being attacked and you are on line, then before the attack arrives ship everything with a reinforce to a nearby valley that you own. When the attack is over, you can just recall it. The attacker can't ship the attack to that valley since it has already been launched, and anyway there is no way for them to figure out where you sent it without scouting every valley in the area.

If you know how long you want the troops to be away, and you want no chance of losses, then just send them to attack a nearby valley with all your valley slots full. You can adjust how long they will be gone by setting the camp time in the march screen. After they fight in the valley (pick a low enough level for no losses), they will come back if you don't have any valley slots open.

Walls

This summer Evony was modified so that the height of the walls provide a big boost to defense. Now each level adds 5% to range for both the fixed defenses and the ranged units, when you have the gate open. So you get a big free shot at your enemy if you have the same level of archery.

Bottom line is that the height of walls, and your level of archery are really important.

Remember if gates are closed then your army is safe, but they don't help defend your city. If gates are open, they defend along with fixed defenses, but they can get killed.

How to annoy your enemy

You can really annoy and distract your enemy by sending an attack with just one worker but putting the camp time on a really long period. (Top right of the marching screen). Their report will keep blinking because of the imminent attack, but they will have to keep checking to see if there is a real attack.

Valleys

You can't leave troops defending a valley because the food expense is too high. Then someone takes away your valley, but you don't find out until you look at the overview screen.

The solution is that after you take a valley you return your troops. After that reinforce the valley with one worker or one scout. You don't have to send a hero on a reinforce.

Then if someone attacks your valley it will show up on your reports and you can do something about it.

Remember, if someone else is controlling a valley, and they don't have troops there you can take it with a hero and one scout, now matter the level. (I haven't tried this, but it is what I understand.) Since scouts travel really fast, you can take the valley back pronto. Then deal with the larger issue.

Protecting Resources

Ok, the scheme I proposed here doesn't work very well due to a weird bug in the system. When I tested it the troops came right back, but that's because I hadn't left it very long. When I left it over night, the troops are taking as long to come back as they stayed out, even though they were "camped" right next door.

In fact they may have done this just to discourage the idea.

You could still do what is in this post and just reinforce a valley that you own. But it would be possible for someone else to scout it and discover your stuff. A real pain among all possible valleys, but possible.

If you are being raided by a superior force the only way to get them to stop is to make it worthless for them. You can do this by protecting your resources and army.

You can protect your army, by making sure your gates are closed (check rally point). If the gates are closed they won't fight and get wiped out.

Ship your resources out if being attacked or when leaving for a while.

To send resources out, just attack an empty valley next to your city. You only need one hero (any will do) and transport sufficient to carry your stuff. Put all your stuff in the transport. Include gold! (With level 6 barracks you can build transports which use much less food than workers for this). Then mark camp time in the top right of the march window to enough time to cover when you will be gone. When you are back or the threat is past you can just recall the army.

The game used to allow you to protect stuff by putting it up for sale at a high price, and then cancelling later. This doesn't work any more. You can still put things up for sale at a high price, but if you are attacked and lose, the attacker will get that stuff.

I thnk that will be enough to make it worthless for most people. If you want to protect the production in the mean time you can build up your warehouse.
